Daniel G. Richard, is a Lieutenant from the Massachusetts State Police where he has spent most of his career in the Division of Investigative Services. Lieutenant Richard holds a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice.
During his years as a State Police Detective he specialized in criminal investigations to include, white collar crime, bank robbery, rape, sexual assault, recovering missing children and homicide investigations. Lieutenant Richard’s special area of interest is I homicide investigation with a specialization long term, unresolved homicides. Lieutenant Richard is a member of the International Association of Homicide Investigators.
In 2006, Lieutenant Richard created and supervised an Unresolved Case Unit in the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office. In his words, “I started this unit so that I could speak for those who no longer could speak for themselves.” During his time as the supervisor of that unit, Lieutenant Richard and his team were responsible for closing several unsolved murder investigations dating back to 1974. Additionally, Lieutenant Richard’s efforts helped to exonerate a man jailed awaiting trial for a murder he did not commit.
Daniel is currently the Executive Officer of the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit and holds certifications in Fire Investigation from the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI) the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) Fire Investigation Technician (IAAI FIT) and Massachusetts Certified Fire Investigator (Mass. CFI)
